About Me
Hi, I’m Nicki, Founder and Director of Skills Over School Project CIC. I created Skills Over School after seeing first-hand how difficult it can be for neurodivergent young people and their families to find support that truly understands their needs. As the parent of a neurodivergent child, I know how challenging it can be when traditional educational environments aren’t the right fit. My background includes a First-Class BA (Hons) in Business Enterprise, a Foundation Degree in Event Management, and specialist training in safeguarding, first aid and neurodiversity. I am also an author and advocate for neurodivergent families, having written Raising a Neurodivergent Child When the World Won’t Bend and When School Breaks Them. I am passionate about creating opportunities for young people to build confidence, develop life skills, explore their interests and discover their strengths in a supportive, inclusive environment. My favourite part of the job is seeing young people begin to believe in themselves again and realise what they are capable of.
