SOS Achievement Pathway

SOS Achievement Pathway

At Skills Over School Project CIC, we work with young people aged 11–16 who may not thrive within traditional education.

Many are neurodivergent, experience barriers to attending school, or simply learn better when education is practical, meaningful and built around the way they learn.

And they achieve incredible things.

The problem is that those achievements aren’t always captured by traditional education.

We want to change that.

The SOS Achievement Pathway

The SOS Achievement Pathway is designed to capture the learning and progress that happens every day at Skills Over School.

As young people develop new skills and complete activities, they can build an individual portfolio containing Certificates of Achievement, evidence of the things they’ve accomplished and a growing record of their skills and experience.

This could include achievements in:

Practical and creative skills • Enterprise • Digital skills • Communication • Independent living • Outdoor learning • Gardening and growing • Environmental projects • Teamwork • Problem solving • Community involvement

And plenty more.

Rather than concentrating on what a young person hasn’t achieved within traditional education, the pathway builds a picture of what they CAN do.

Over time, this becomes a valuable working record of their skills, interests and experience that can help them begin to build a CV for college, training, volunteering and eventually employment.

Support a Young Person – £75

We’re looking for individuals and local businesses to help us provide the SOS Achievement Pathway to our young people.

£75 supports one young person’s Achievement Pathway for the year.

Your sponsorship helps provide their individual portfolio, Certificates of Achievement, evidence and record keeping, printing, paper, ink and the resources needed to document and celebrate their progress.

[SUPPORT A YOUNG PERSON]

Why it matters

Some of our young people have spent years feeling that education is something they have failed at.

We see something very different.

We see young people learning new skills, solving problems, creating things, communicating, growing in confidence, helping others and achieving things they once thought they couldn’t do.

Imagine reaching 16 with a portfolio you can open and see page after page showing:

I learnt this.

I made this.

I helped with this.

I achieved this.

Instead of starting a CV with a blank page, they already have a record of their skills, experiences and achievements to build from.

That’s what the SOS Achievement Pathway is about.

For businesses

Local businesses can support one young person for £75 for the year, or choose to support several.

Business supporters can choose to be recognised on our website and social media, and we’ll share the collective impact that Achievement Pathway sponsors are helping to create.

Sponsorship will never be publicly linked to an identifiable young person, protecting the privacy of every young person we support.

If your business would like to discuss larger sponsorship or supporting the wider SOS Achievement Pathway, we’d love to hear from you.
